I have struggled with the over-commercialisation of Christmas for a long time, I hate the idea of buying presents for the sake of buying presents. I used to struggle to come up with thoughtful, useful gifts for people that don’t really need things. That all changed when I discovered how easy it was to create photo calendars and decided to put my photographic skills to use and make a truly personal gift for close family and friends.
Every year I make my own calendars using photographs I’ve taken throughout the year, it’s really easy to do, it gives me a chance to show off my pictures and takes the stress out of Christmas shopping.
There are loads of online printing companies that you can use, I’ve used both Snapfish and Vistaprint, which site you use is up to you. Creating the calendar is really easy, simply upload your photos to the site, select a template from their library, place your photos on the pages, add captions and any special dates then you’re all done. The hardest part is deciding which photos to use.
I’m on the mailing list for both the above companies so usually manage to time my calendar making to coincide with one of their many special offers which help reduce costs. Both have great quality and delivery is normally within about a week.
I’ve been making my photo calendars for so long now that people are starting to expect them.
